Union Eighteen is an Atlanta-based design studio comprised of Meg van der Kruik, a multimedia/collage artist, and her husband Todd van der Kruik, a commercial textile designer. Their focus is creating sustainable art and interior products through the reuse of discarded source material.

Meg’s artwork has been exhibited throughout the southern United States. In 2004 she received an emerging artist scholarship from the City of Chattanooga’s 4 Bridges Art Festival. Heavy use of pattern and textiles in her work allowed a natural progression to interior product design.

Todd graduated from the Studio Art program at the University of California, Irvine and has had an accomplished career in commercial textile design. His work has received numerous product design awards and has been featured in many publications including Interior Design, I.D. and Metropolis.

Union Eighteen’s attention is split between their own product collections and consultive design for brands utilizing recycled and other environmentally friendly materials. They currently maintain a creative development role for Zandur’s line of innovative flooring products.

The couple's “raw” rugs received an Honorable Mention in I.D. Magazine's 54th Annual Design Review and were exhibited at Parson’s School of Design in NYC. Additionally, they have been featured in many other publications including The LA Times, Good Housekeeping, Natural Home and Garden&Gun. Their rugs have been included in several amazing eco/build projects including project7ten, a cutting edge LEED platinum residence in Venice Beach, and most recently in The Residences at W Hollywood, as part of an eco sanctuary constructed in the heart of Los Angeles and designed by Kelly Van Patter.
